I just used BitcoinExchange and am very pleased with their service! Their fee of 5% is much more reasonable than the other vendor offering moneypak to bitcoin exchange on Silk Road (12%) :) Thanks!!

So I tried using this service under a separate account. I purchased a moneypak for $500. I never even scratched the back to reveal the number until I got a message saying that they could fill my order. I sent the moneypak number (with $500 untouched dollars, i have the receipt to prove it...) and i get a message saying that he checked and the moneypak had no money. Of course I checked as well and the card had no money then. I will be calling moneypak tomorrow to see if i they can tell me when the funds were withdrawn. I will post the results here later.

One thing is for sure, I am out $500 bucks and there goes my drug funds for the next couple of months. Thanks a lot BE.

the thought occurred to me that perhaps the feedback was bogus or maybe was legit but for smaller amounts and these guys may have been holding out for a larger $$ amount. would be interesting to hear from anyone who has had success with these guys and what the $$ amount was. shame if these guys are jackers SR could use more of these types of services. I have wondered why none of the established/high volume sellers haven't started such a service....

I have some news. I called moneypak this morning and they informed me that the funds were withdrawn yesterday around 8pm pacific time. Now I know for sure that BE scammed the shit out of me. I have started a dispute to try to get my money back, hopefully I can get my funds back somehow. I will update with the status of my complaint when I hear more about it.

I have learned my lesson, fuck dealing with these type of services. Hope you all learn from my mistake and stop giving this douche free money. Buyers beware of this fucking scammer.

Sorry for you loss but thank you for warning the other members!  I had briefly considered using this company.

Well, back to Borneo I go.  Stay over $300 and the rate is only 5%.  Receipt within hours.  No hassle or attitude.  One honest vendor!

Wednesday morning i had a successful transaction with BE. I had asked for $200 and he/she said they could only do $100 because that was all the Bitcoins available to them. So I dumped $100 from my MoneyPak into my PayPal account and the rest of the transaction went relatively smoothly.

As an aside, does anyone know if it's possible for someone to withdraw part of the total amount from a MoneyPak? I would think it was...

No.  By design, you purchase a MP at a set price + the fee.  The intention of a MP is to recharge an existing GD card and there is no way you could use anything less or split the funding in any way as far as I know.

well i split part of it into my PayPal account so there's that. also there are other authorized companies that take partial MoneyPak deposits. what I don't know if the same capability is applicable to charging a MoneyPak rechargeable card, which I imagine is the only real way for a vendor to transact with them at any sort of volume.

EDIT: MoneyPaks cannot be partially emptied into a MoneyPak account (according to Borneo)

You are a complete liar! You gave me a MoneyPak number with $0 funds and expect me to send you bitcoins? I've had about 5 of these request, for all I know, they can all be YOU! I've become suspicious of anyone wanting to exchange anything over a few hundred dollars. I hope you can recover your funds via MoneyPak. I've given the moderator of this forum my telephone number. If you wish to speak to me on an anonymous conference line, I am happy to talk to you about it. I assure you, there is no reason for me to scam anyone. I make more money by providing this service than to scam someone. I'm in the process of applying for Money Transfer Business with the IRS, I'm making this legal.  I really am sorry for your lost, but again, I did not scam you. I will do anything to help clear my name and seller account.

nearo, let's be fair. We made a transaction and had some miscommunication on the rate of bitcoins. If you check your messages, I offered to send the remainder of the bitcoins you believe you are entitled too. My offer still stands. A positive rating is more important to me than a few bitcoins. I'm in this for the long haul. this sucks.

Hi BE,

I never said I myself was scammed. I fully explained my experience with you and said I couldn't recommend it. I mentioned that you were very good at communication, and I even explained that it seemed to be a miscommunication. I chalk the few bitcoins i "lost" up to experience. I only pm'd SR because I saw multiple reports of scamming, but I repeat I AM NOT CLAIMING BE SCAMMED BY BITCOINEXCHANGE. Although you did mention that you'd change your listing to be more detailed about the fact that you don't have have the btc's on hand, but go and get them through the exchange, and your listing does not seem to be updated to show this.

Your listing does put off the feeling that it is a 5% flat fee, and I just wanted to convey that that wasn't my experience. I don't know the exact details of what the two people are claiming to have been scammed, but I will continue to try to be proactive with any cases that I see which may be seen as scamming.

I do appreciate the service you provided me, and I have not tried to say that you have scammed me, but I would like to protect SR.

Sorry, if my communications on here seemed to indicate that you were scamming people.

Thank you for the clarification. My offer still stands if you want the remainder of your coins. I haven't changed the listing yet as I'm looking to store BTC instead of buying from the exchanges as orders come in. I bought your BTCs at a higher rate than it displayed on SR. I apologize for the mixup.

It really bothers me that I spent about $100 dollars to get this seller account to offer this service and not a week in, I'm already being scrutinized and called a scammer. I've contacted SR admin to help mediate. This is all quite upsetting.

Why not provide SR with the MP #?  He can then contact MP and verify whether or not this is true.  At a minimum, he should be able to see if it was EVER funded.  In all fairness, I have seen MP issued for the wrong amount and even worse, not activated correctly by the clerk forcing me to go back to the store!  Not all locations activate MP's the same (or at least it used to be like this).

I would like to apologize to BitcoinExchange for my particular situation. I misread his last correspondence with me where he offered to make up the difference in BTCs. This is the exact way a great seller on here should work, and it was my fault for misreading. I can't tell you about the experiences others have claimed to have, but I assure you that my experience has turned out great. Great Communication and a willingness to make things right.

Hopefully the other situations are resolved, and BitcoinExchange can become a great vendor here on SR.

Sorry for my contributions to the negative publicity.

You are right, it is your word against mine. But I have the receipt, and I can call moneypak any second and get proof that the money was withdrawn from my card after 8pm pacific time last night, which was shortly after I sent my message with the card number. I will wait until the investigation at money pak's end goes through, hopefully I can get my money back from you.

By the way, I am in no way a competitor trying to push you out. I am a honest buyer that has never really been scammed before. I tried to work it out with you through the message, but you did not even respond to my last one. If you want to make your wrong right, fucking give me the BTC you promised.

I can prove all that I have said above, I don't have the time to do it but if I have to I will. I am a believer in Karma, so I know that you will pay for this eventually, if not IN THIS LIFE, on the next.

Hope you have a great time spending my money,

Nomad,

I DID post about it last night, but I only found out about the fact that the money was withdrawn THIS MORNING when moneypak opened at 8 am! I posted here as soon as I got scammed to let others know before they give this guy their money!

Whatever, you guys can believe whatever you guys want but I know the truth in my heart. I could never live with myself if i was BE. Trust me when I tell you guys that I would never make such a big deal about it if what I'm saying was not true. I'd rather lurk, but in this case it is not possible for me to remain in the shadows.

I'm done posting, unless BE steps up and decides to make this wrong right.

Ok guys well I'm sure moneypak has all transactions recorded, it's only them that can decide.
If it is true bitcoinexchange you screwed yourself and if you didn't do it moneypak should have no problem determining where the money went. I'm not taking sides on this...how could I?

Thank you for your support Henry 238, and I'm very sorry this asshole took your $200, but at least it wasn't $500 like me. At this point all I want is to let others know that this person is a scammer so that others don't suffer the same fate as us. It would be great if SR could do something about it, but bitcoinexchange will probably start being legit from now on so that SR doesn't kick him out. I am here to warn others that even if he starts being legit, it is no guarantee that he won't scam others in the future, so beware of this guy.

Personally, I have been communicating with moneypak pretty regularly. I have sent them all my evidence and they will resolve the dispute. I am just glad I called moneypak soon enough so they could freeze the card he deposited my money into. I think I might have a chance getting it back, but nothing is certain so I'm not going to hold my breath.

I'll update when I have news.

and good luck henry238, whatever happens, take it as a learning experience. there is nothing else we can do about it...

So, if bce is a legit scammer, is there another moneypak to bitcoin service we can use?

Its a shame that scammers come a dime a dozen. This community is supposed to be based on trust. We can only keep an eye out for shady vendors, and alert others of any shady activity, in the hopes that they listen and alert others as well.

I can help others who need coins, from money pak. I don't have the capacity to take large volumes of orders, so I'd need at least 24hrs to fill orders at the latest. I don't mind helping a few heads here and there, just don't flood me with too many orders.

I would like to reiterate that I did have a successful transaction (+300) with BE, also Kipperdore (sp?) claimed to have a good experience. It's possible that there's selective scamming, but to me that isn't very logical.

It's possible that something else may have happened here.

Please don't yell at me, I'm just trying to be informative as possible.

I'm very sorry that this happened to you Henry and ihate, if you want anymore info about my transaction with him, i'll try to provide it (within reason to protect my anonymity of course)

$200 gone here.... it's been ~20 hours since my last contact with him (when I gave him MP#).

Found this thread before I sent him the code, but gave him the benefit of the doubt.  Hopefully he will come through in the end.

Edit: Just called MP and verified that the funds on the reload card are gone.  Wrote several PM's to bitcoinexchange, no response.

Ok guys well I'm sure moneypak has all transactions recorded, it's only them that can decide.
If it is true bitcoinexchange you screwed yourself and if you didn't do it moneypak should have no problem determining where the money went. I'm not taking sides on this...how could I?

Well that kind seals the deal for me.

Borneo beta-tested with referrals from some of the big vendors on SR, who can all vouch for him. He's solid.

I checked with Green Dot and got the exact time of the transfer from my MoneyPak into PayPal.  Here's the timeline of the scam, for the benefit of the group:

12:09 UTC Purchased MoneyPak at local store
13:28 UTC First PM contact sent to bitcoinexchange
14:00 UTC bitcoinexchange responds by PM asking for MoneyPak number
14:09 UTC I send PM to bitcoinexchange with MoneyPak number
14:09 UTC MoneyPak transferred into PayPal (transaction # AP-xxx33xxx4209xxxxx)
14:56 UTC Receive PM from bitcoinexchange saying: "This MP has $0 balance. I checked it twice, once on the phone. Please provide a MP with available funds. You can reorder when you are ready. Thank you."

Reorder when I'm ready, what a joke.

Nice going dick.

I second this, Borneo is hands down the best MP to BTC service on SR. After getting scammed by BE earlier this week, I can say that I wish I had used Borneo instead.

Glad BE's listings are off SR, but I am even more happy about Borneo being back in action :)

BCE jacked me for 400.00 too.  What a dumbass, I even told him I had several more mp's to process and had he came tbru on the first one he would have gotten me for alot all at once in the next transaction.

Actually, the 400 he took was from a Haitian mambo vodun priestess I was just placing an order for.  She now has apparently has placed some type of spell on the money.  I wouldnt touch that 400 with a ten foot pole knowing what she has done to other people she didnt even know for donations lol... Thats one serious witch for real, im just glad I had it to replace for her or she might have thought it was me.  Hell, I would rather rob a bank than have her put a working on me, ive seen whats happened to people before.

BCE, she said for me to tell you it it wont stop till you return her money plus 200 more to remove the curse.  I feel sorry for you, I think she went after your ummmm  genitals.

Wouldn't it be a crazy plot twist if BE's account was compromised this whole time and the real thief was some unknown 3rd party? Regardless, I feel sorry for somebody's genitals...

Because let's be honest. If the plan was to get a legitimate business up and running just to make away with some larger amounts of cash once his reputation was made then the fact that he came on here and passionately defended his innocence (quite convincingly, I might add) and contacted SR to mediate means either 1) he believed he could keep the selective scamming going a bit longer and doing so would help*, 2) he's got a split personality and one half feels a need to save his honor while the other half was simultaneously being totally immoral, or 3) he's innocent and telling the truth.

* this is after 2 cases of theft had been reported and shortly before a 3rd, with at least 3 more thefts occurring at unknown times (all times UTC):
=== BE starts thread introducing his services on Sep 13th @ 2:51 am ("This forum and its user will keep me accountable.")
Henry238 ($200): theft occured on Sep 14th @ 2:09pm, reported on Sep 15th @ 4:43am
ihatebusinessorgz ($500): theft occurred on Sep 15th @ 3am, reported on Sep 15 @ 4:18am
=== BE mounts defense on Sep 15th @ 9:02pm-9:25pm (claims 5 MoneyPaks sent to him were already empty)
gaah ($200): theft occurred on Sep 16th @ ~10am, reported on Sep 16th @ 6:21pm
weaver77 ($300): theft occurred ?, reported on Sep 16th @ 3:54pm
paperchasing ($400): theft occurred ?, reported on Sep 18th @ 6:37am
? ($150): theft occurred ?, not reported (found out through a personal contact)

I have news:

After talking and submitting all my evidence to moneypak, the dispute was finally resolved in my favor and a refund $500 check is being placed in the mail as we speak. I was lucky to call moneypak in time to prevent this scammer from withdrawing the funds, and gave them a very credible story to where they believed me. I suggest that if this happens to someone again in the future, to IMMEDIATELY call moneypak and claim that you MP was stolen.

If you decide to do this, think about what you will say beforehand and be convincing! have an excuse of what you were going to do with the moneypak number, along with details of how the "incident" came down and such. A scammer will not be able to give any other information other than "I was given it as payment for something", so the more convincing story of theft you have, the better. In my case, i told MP that not only my MP number was stolen, but a lot of other items were stolen as well and i guess it made it more believeable and the people at MP sort of felt bad for me...

Edit: I forgot to mention, you need to keep your receipt of purchase and the MP card. You are going to have to fax both to them. You can still fight it if you don't have either, but i don't know how the outcome would turn out.

Anyways, to all out there that go through this shit, fight it like a motherfucker because truly there is nothing to lose.!

Good luck to you all,
ihatebusinessorgz <3

awesome. nice job! is it safe to say they only refunded you the money because they were able to get it back themselves? And if so, was it retrieved from a MoneyPak Debit Card or a PayPal account? Or did they just take the loss?

Yes, they only refunded me because they were able to retrieve my $500 from BE's credit card. I called 1 minute after they opened the morning after I got scammed and started a dispute. Starting a dispute will put a hold on the card/account that the money was withdrawn into.

So the $500 were taken from BE's card, moneypak would NEVER take a loss on stuff like this. If I had taken more time, I probably would not have been able to get my money back, so if this happens to anyone it is KEY to act very quick.

And thank you for the concern, I hope that if this happens to anyone, they fight it because it is pretty worth doing so!

PS: Bitcoinexchange, was it really worth it? Theft doesn't pay you piece of shit. A big FUCK YOU to you, as the fact that I got my money back conclusively proves you are a FUCKING SCAMMER.

Hope you all have a great day,
ihatebusinessorgz
